Malvun Taak Deep - a brief take..

Malvun Taak Deep

Composed by: Pt. Hridaynath Mangeshkar
Sung by: Lata Mangeshkar
Written by: Suresh Bhat

Presenting an excerpt of a very rare and beautiful gem of a Marathi song, sung ever so beautifully by Lataji. The tune of this song has a mystical feel to it, imparted by the raag Pt. Hridaynathji based it on - Raag Bhoopkali or Bhoopeshwari
I will be singing some other melodies based on this rare raag, once I'm done learning them. :-)

Lyrics and Meaning:
---------------------

मालवून टाक दीप, चेतवून अंग अंग
राजसा किती दिसात, लाभला निवांत संग
Quench this flame inside,
revitalizing me inside-out,
Has been a long time, since we
Found this solitude, My prince!

त्या तिथे फुलाफुलात, पेंगते अजून रात
हाय तू करु नकोस, एवढयात स्वप्न भंग
The night still lingers,
in those flowers yonder!
Don't end these dreams, not yet!

राजसा...
मालवून टाक दीप..
Has been a long time, since we
found this solitude, my prince!
Quench this flame inside!

Congratulations on having your Blog for your music!
What a song selection and you have really sung it so well. Shows your fantastic command and control over the notes through this classical based composition. strong vocals are your forte and that made this rendition wonderful.
Neat diction...I can't believe you are a non-Marathi speaking, Sudha!
    All the best,
    Adwait

  6. This song is based on Raag Bhoopkali, or Bhoopeshwari, not Vibhaas.

  7. Thank you for the correction. I will fix the error. Yes, I am aware it is Bhoopeshwari. Is the Bhairav-thaat Vibhaas any similar to Bhoopeshwari?
