Uyirum Neeye - A soulful Mother's Day tribute

Mother's Day felt complete for me when I had the joy of sharing music by listening to my own mother who sings absolutely beautifully. I was telling her and my daughter about this song "Uyirum Neeye", and she also started picking up the tune and singing.
Here is my own style take of this beautiful Tamil song composed by A.R. Rahman from the 1994 film Pavithra. Penned by poet Vairamuthu, this song is a profound tribute to motherhood. The song highlights the mother's role as both the giver of life (body and soul) and the embodiment of love, stating that a mother's worth is greater than heaven itself.

I love both Unnikrishnan and Harish Sivaramakrishnan of Agam's heart-touching versions - somehow this song hits in the low registers. The composition is designed to suit the male octave.
This song is set to Carnatic Khamas ragam. I decided to sing it in Scale A# with some interesting vocal octave experimentation. Track is an experiment too using Ai. But I plan to resing it with live guitars.

Hope you like this version. For best details, listen on headphones.

Original credits:
Song: Uyirum Neeye
Singer: P. Unnikrishnan
Music Director: A.R. Rahman
Lyrics: Vairamuthu
Film: Pavithra (1994)

Uyirum Neeye Udalum neeye uravum neeye Thaaye..
You are the Life, you are the Body, you are the relationship, oh Mother.

Thann udalil sumandhu uyirai pagirndhu uruvam tharuvaai neeye..
You bore me in you, and shared your life and shaped me..

Un kannil valiyum oru thuli podhum, kadalum urugum thaaye..
A single drop of tear in your eyes is enough, to make the sea also cry..

Un kaaladi mattum tharuvaai thaaye..sorgam enbadhu poiye
Just your feet is enough...even Heaven will be trivial.

Vinnai padaithaan, mannai padaithaan, kaatrum kadalum oliyayumpadaithaan
He created the sky, created the earth, created the air, and created light..

boomiku adhanaal nimmadhi illai...saami thavithaan, thaayei padaithaan
No peace for earth, and the Lord pondered, and created Mother.
